A bit expensive if you don’t live near London and can’t easily make good use of their library. Non-members can visit the library, and although there is a charge for non-members you’d have to a several times each year to make it worth belonging if the library is the main benefit for you.
I did find it useful to be able to borrow some Devon PR entries on microfilm but most of these are online now with newer, better quality images.
Members do have access to an online database which is supposedly being added to but I haven’t found anything knew of interest to me there for sometime.
I have seen some ‘professionals’ advertising and saying they belong to SOG. I would avoid such individuals as they seem to be trying to con you – SOG is not the body for professionals, that is AGRA, and you can join SOG the day you decide you are interested in genealogy and know nothing about what you are doing.
