i.e. records at the National Archives with a reference beginning ‘E ‘, summarised here on TNA website.

I have yet to look at many of these. Most that are on my ‘to do’ list are records of the King’s Remembrancer.

The King’s (or Queen’s) Remembrancer was one of the two major Exchequer officials concerned with the accounting and audit procedures and also in the wider administrative functions of the Court of Exchequer from the twelfth century to the nineteenth.

The records of the King’s Remembrancer include disputes regarding tithes with depositions in the E 134 series  and inquisitions post mortem in E 142 series II.
