2012 progress
My first post for 10 months may lead you to think I’ve not been working on my family tree – in fact it’s almost the reverse, I’ve been working on it so much I haven’t had time to post!
So this is the first post of a number which will cover what I’ve been doing since October – research this year has been mostly on my Kent quarter and both my Devon eighths, though I’ve also learnt a bit more about my ancestors in Sussex, Norfolk and Yorkshire.
Most has been done from home, using in particular the British Newspaper Archives and Parish Register collections now on Find My Past covering parts of Devon and Kent.
But I’ve also been to the South Hams (Devon) and met 2 distant cousins which was fun, and I used a local resource in Kingsbridge whilst there – very useful, I could spend days there.
And earlier this month I’ve been on my first Trip to the National Archives.
Now I’m planning for a short trip to West Devon – I may wait to book b&b till it looks like we should have a few dryish days, that’s unless it seems that I can usefully use the whole time in the Plymouth and West Devon Record Office and other wet weather alternatives.
