Gender Male Occupation 1861 Linkinhorne, Cornwall, England Copper miner - Lodging with his i
Occupation From 1871 to 1881 Low row of cottages, Rosedale West, Yorkshire, England Ironstone miner - Wm Bailey was an ironstone miner in Rosedale, living in "Low row of cottages" in 1871, aged 38, shown as born Tavistock, but I believe it was this William.
It was about same time as his brother Samuel was in Rosedale, and the 1891 census seems to show he did, too, move north. Still an ironstone miner in 1881, in Lofthouse (shown born Whitchurch).
Occupation 1891 Cramlington, Northumberland, England Coal miner - By 1891 a coal miner, living at Cramlington Colliery, still single, now shown born "Kingstenton".

- (Research):Where was he in 1861?
A Wm Bailey who was born in Devon in April 1832 joined the navy - worth looking at the papers to see if it could be him.
Another of similar age was on board HMS Terrible in the 1861 census, but a gunner RMA rather than in the navy, I think this was his cousin of the same name, baptised the year after him in Kingsteignton.

Father William BAILEY, b. Abt 1802, Kingsteignton, Devon, England , d. 29 Oct 1874, Nutley Chapel, Whitchurch, Devon, England (Age ~ 72 years) Mother Elizabeth VOGWELL, b. Abt 1805, Whitchurch, Devon, England , d. 4 Jan 1880, Whitchurch, Devon, England (Age ~ 75 years) Married 1 Apr 1825 Walkhampton Church, Walkhampton, Devon, England - From the DFHS index of PR entries: shows William Bealey mar Elizabeth Vogwill (I haven't yet seen actual entry)
Whitchurch is about 28 miles from Kingsteignton, and only about half a miles less from Teigngrace. So how did William from the Kingsteignton / Teigngrace area meet Elizabeth from the Whitchurch area?
William's older sister Jane had got married in 1816 to one Henry Vogwell; Henry was the uncle of William's bride so I guess it was through his sister Jane that William met Elizabeth.
But of course this then creates the question: how had Jane from the Kingsteignton / Teigngrace area met Henry from the Whitchurch area?
