Name John Henry BAILEY Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Dec Q 1843 Kingsteignton, Devon, England - GRO ref: Bailey, John Henry q4 1843 Newton Abbot RD 10 154; GRO online index shows mother's maiden name as Fogwell
Gender Male Died 3 Oct 1856 Whitchurch, Devon, England Cause: Accident - Fracture of the Leg - GRO ref: BAILEY, John Henry q4 1856 Tavistock RD 5b 214; GRO online index shows age at death as 13Details from death registration (GRO register entry)
Shows he died 'in the Parish of Whitchurch' and was described as 'Son of William Bailey Thatcher'. Since William seems to have changed from thatcher to labourer / clay cutter in Kingsteignton the fact he is again a thatcher suggests William had moved by this time, and not just his son.
'In the parish of Whitchurch' could be Pennycomequick, where his parents are known to have been living by 1861. By the age of 13 I would have imagined he would have been working, although no occupation is given. Perhaps the lack of a named location in the parish is because the accident and death were at work or on the way to or from work, at an unnamed location.
Most often the informant for children's death registrations is a parent, so it shows where the family were living, but in this case there must have been an inquest, as the Coroner was the informant. (Searching the newspapers on FMP, as at 16 Oct 2022, I can find no details of the inquest; I did not browse any papers. There may well have been a report in a paper more local that those on FMP at the time of the search).

Whitchurch is about 28 miles from Kingsteignton, and only about half a miles less from Teigngrace. So how did William from the Kingsteignton / Teigngrace area meet Elizabeth from the Whitchurch area?
William's older sister Jane had got married in 1816 to one Henry Vogwell; Henry was the uncle of William's bride so I guess it was through his sister Jane that William met Elizabeth.
But of course this then creates the question: how had Jane from the Kingsteignton / Teigngrace area met Henry from the Whitchurch area?
