Death cert. shows he died in the 'Parish of St. John' and was a mariner. The informant was one Elzabeth Bishop, present at the death, abode King Street (she made her mark)
"Apoplexy" was a term used at the time by professionals and the educated for a disorder that "struck abruptly, causing a sudden abolition of all the activities of the mind, with the preservation, for a time, of the pulse and respiration" (Bonet) - i.e. what the rest of the populations called a "stroke".
The understanding of The classification of apoplexy based on autopsy reports published in the C17th and C18th was still accepted at the beginning of the C19th, and part of this, the concept of "serous apoplexy," was to last until the latter part of the C19th. I know his wife was Mary from the 1841 census, I suspect that it was he who married in St. Magnus the Martyr in 1785, but can't be certain of this. (Quite a few of Robert's close family married in London)

Family Mary MAGIS, b. Abt 1765, Kent, England , d. 2 Feb 1844, St. John’s Parish, Margate, Kent, England (Age ~ 79 years) Married 12 May 1785 St. Magnus the Martyr’s Church, London, England - Robert and Mary were batchelor and spinster at the time they married, both were of the parish of St. Magnus the Martyr and they married by banns.
Only witness was William Tilley - probably the parish clerk as he was witness to a lot of weddings.
Both signed, Robert's writing quite poor.
