The trustees were responsible for seeing that Betsey received the net income from Thomas's estate for the rest of her life, until her own death in 1884.

Bequest 1884 Field and barn “Carnes Close” in Stokenham - When his uncle Thomas Efford Issell wrote his will in 1870 he left a bequest to William, but only after his (TEI's) wife's death. This didn't occur until 1884.
"I give and devise my freehold field and barn with the appurtenances called "Carnes Close" situate in Stokenham aforesaid unto the said William Henry Pike (subject and chargeable as aforesaid with the payment of the two several sums of Fifty pounds hereinbefore bequeathed to my Nephews John Pike and Robert Pike"

William was left a freehold field and barn, with the appurtenances belonging to it, “Carnes Close” in Stokenham, minus £100 which was to go to his two brothers.
(All this after the death of Thomas's wife, which occured in 1884)
William was also made an executor, together with a cousin and his uncle's wife.
