The National Archives index (Registers of Seamen's Services) gives date of birth as 15 Jun 1881 - year clearly wrong, I am assuming date /month are correct

Gender Male Education 1891 Scholar Military Service From 10 Sep 1900 to 15 Mar 1917 Royal Navy including in WW1 - Augustus was already in the navy before WW1, being described as a "Stoker in navy: 2nd class", in Pembroke Division 2 in 1901 and as "stoker R Navy" in the 1911 census (when he was with his parents on census night.)
In WW1 he was a leading stoker on HMS Foyle.
His service records are available at the National Archives (I have details)
Died 15 Mar 1917 Straits Of Dover, Kent, England - Died in mine explosion. His body was not recovered for burial (according to RN records).
