    • NOT the Emma Bishop who died in Greenwich RD in 1918 - though the right age, the probate calendar entry and census entries suggest she was the wife of a different Thomas Bishop, a watchmaker, who was with her in the censuses when the husband of this Emma was living apart from her in Margate, with their daughter.
    Notes 
    • Not sure about Emma's surname. Found Emma with Thomas in 1881 census, found marr of Thomas Bishop with an Emma Hopper on the page, not found Emma in 1871 or 1861 census. Was Hopper her surname from a prev marr? or misspelt?

      (I started looking because Thomas shown as marr in 1891 & 1901 but Emma not with him and Jessie)
    • (Research):Not with her husband and daughter after 1881, although Thomas was still shown as 'married'. I think she was probably a servant in Gravesend in 1891, shown as Emma Bishop, born Kawkinge, singe, aged 29. I think Kawkinge was probably a mis-transcription of Hawkinge, where the 1861 and 1871 censuses show that Emma was born. The birth registration index has no entry for an Emma Bishop born in Elham RD (which included Hawkinge) at any time close to 1861.
