  	Possibly emigrated with her parents and siblings, leaving England between the 1871 census and the birth of her sister in Massachusetts in 1873. Born in Plymstock, a look at the census entries for Caroline might suggest she may well have never travelled far from Plymouth in her life. She is recorded in all living in Plymstock or Plymouth, and died there. However, in 1873, when Caroline was 14, Blanche, a sister of hers, was born in Massachusetts in the USA, and a couple of years later her brother Willie was born in Indiana. Did the whole family move? By 14 Caroline may have had a job in England and have stayed behind, either 'living in' (as she was in 1881), boarding somewhere or staying with other family. Since the family had returned by 1881 and left after 1871 the censuses do not give a clue as to how much of the family emigrated. Although there was a 1875 State Census in Massachusetts it does not survive, and whilst the family had been there in 1873, they may well have been in Indiana by that time, given that her brother was born there in Sep that year. Indiana did not take state censuses listing residents, just for statistical purposes. TO DO: check emigration records for the family.
