    • At the time his son James was baptised
    Occupation Between 1839 and 1851
    Store-house man
    • So described in the marriage PR entry for his son James as well as baptisms for some of his children, the first being for Sarah in 1839.
Also described as a 'Store H. man' in the 1841 census and a 'warehouseman' in the 1851 census.

    • An entry in the death duties register suggests it was the death of this William, as it not only shows him as 'of Margate' but names the executor as Martha Griggs; I don't think another William of Margate would have named a Martha Griggs as his executor at this time.
GRO ref: Griggs, William q2 1851 I of Thanet RD 5 341; GRO online index shows age at death as 38

Despite William Griggs being quite a common name on Thanet and Sarah a common Christian name there appears to have been no other marriages of a William Griggs to a Sarah in the period 1784 to 1824.
