Father James HAMBLING, b. Abt 1761, Blackawton, Devon, England , d. 14 Jul 1837, Blackawton, Devon, England (Age ~ 76 years) Mother Ann BURGOIN, b. Abt 1758, d. 1836, Blackawton, Devon, England (Age ~ 78 years) Married 16 Jun 1783 St. Michael’s Church, Blackawton, Devon, England [1] - Witness George Lavers was probably a friend from childhood, not a relation; he was born the same year as James in Blackawton. He was to become linked by marriage, as James's daughter-in-law Elizabeth Baker's mother was a Lavers. George may have been her first cousin; I'm not certain which of two John Lavers her father was.

Family William HODGE, b. Abt 1783, Slapton, Devon, England , d. 5 Sep 1852 (Age ~ 69 years) Married - Checked DFHS CDs for Totnes and Woodleigh Deaneries and I don't think I've found this marriage (searched for all marriages of a William Hodge or Hodges, also searched for abbrev Wm)
The only possibility is HODGES WILLIAM to MOREY MARY on 07 08 1809. This would require Mary to have been a widow aged 20 when she married William.

"No 201
James Hambling of this Parish Blacksmith and Ann Burgoin of this Parish Spinster were Married in this Church by Banns this Sixteenth Day of June in the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty three by me Thoms. Adams Vicar.
This Marriage was solemnized between Us { James Hambling
{ The mark of \\ Ann Burgoin
In the Presence of { George Lavers
{ Thomas Hyne"
The Register is one for combined Banns / Marriage entries, but the banns part of this was left blank - like it would be for a marriage by licence. While most were filled in, a couple of other entries were left blank in 1783/84 for marriages said to be by Banns. Whether the Vicar forgot to fill these in, or accidentally wrote Banns when he meant Licence, I'm not sure.
(Thomas Hyne was a witness at most marriages at this time and was probably Parish Clerk)
