    • Mary Ann Vogwell and her husband-to-be Thomas Berriball were the witnesses at the marriage of Robert Johhns Kerslake and Elizabeth Mason Jury. Robert was a farmer, as were both farthers, sharing this occupation with Thomas. It was probably this that led to them being friends and hence to Thomas and Mary being witnesses (though as I haven't looked at Thomas's family it's possible he was a relation).

      Who was George Vogwell? - Mary's grandfather and uncle with this name were both dead by 1840, but she had 3 1st cousins with the name, so it was probably one of them (I haven't compared signatures to try to work out which)
