  	At the time of the census Johana was living with her father and her brother John; also in the house was a young Ag lab (21 yer old Richard Scoble). No occupation shown - possibly because Johana was housekeeper for the household, though she would almost certainly have been doing work connected with the farm as well - probably dairy work and taking produce to market.

  	Actual date from TNA document regarding administration of her father's will - it gives a date of death for her, with the qualifying "on or about". I can't find any death registration in Devon to match (looked at FreeBMD, Simons with phonetic search, looked at all names starting Jo; given that William's death was recorded a year out in the document, I searched 1848 - 1852); also now checked the GRO online index. Originally I found two possibilities in the whole country, but they are nowhere close once the ages are checked. It may have been mistranscribed when the GRO copy was made or be illegible in the original indexes; some pages have deteriorated and some entries are not now readable.

  Notes	(Research):In her father's will he leaves a bequest to his great grandson James SIMONS. A James Vogwell Symons was bapt in Stoke Damerel 12 Jun 1836, son of Daniel and Charlotte (DFHS transcript on FMP) - this seems to be a coincidence, another Symons-Vogwell marriage; I believe the James SIMONS left the watch was the son of Johanna's son John, as shown on this website. (The other Symons-Vogwell family are included on this site; probably distant cousins, it may eventually be possible to link them but they are included more to aid the ascribing of 'Vogw(e/i)ll' events to the right person.

  	From the Vogwell website (transcript thanks to Helen Price) The above refers to several children but gives no data. Looking through all the Symons (and variants) children baptised in Tamerton, 1806-1826, there only seem to be 2 children of this marriage, the two who were later in dispute over their grandfather's will.
