  	Informant was Harriett Hunt, present at the death. At least 7 of Mary's 11 children survived her but about 3 months before, at the time of the census, they were scattered: Maria was in Kingsnorth,  Edward was in Borden, Basil and Charles were both in Bredgar and Sybella was in Faversham. Just Richard (who was single) and Springfield remained in Wormshill, so it is not surprising that it was Springfield's oldest daughter, Harriet, who with her young baby was living with her father and younger siblings at the time of the census, should have been with her grandmother at her death and been the one to inform the registrar.   Notes	By the time of the 1841 census Mary had married (or at least was living as the wife of) John Milgate, about 14 years his junior. In 1841 they were living in Frinsted, with Mary's unmarried son Richard and a granddaughter, Mary Ann (illegitimate daughter of Mary's daughter, another Mary). By 1851 Mary and John were back in Wormshill, and this is most likely where Mary died, later that year. (Research):Surname Whitehead also spelt Whithead and Witehead

  	From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 20 Jul 2019) It is interesting that the marriage took place so long after the banns were read - about 18 months later. (were the banns still valid? - to be checked) Mary was a minor and Richard seems to have been some years older so perhaps her parents did not consent at first. She was still a minor when they did marry, but being about 6 months pregnant at the time perhaps further resistance seemed hopeless! It seems unlikely that they would have been too bothered about her being pregnant and not married - her mother had an illegitimate child and then was about six months pregnant with another when she did marry, and two of Mary's sisters went on to  have 3 illegitimate children between them, and one was also about 6 months pregnant at marriage.
