    • 'William Pepperell Sen': was buried April 12th' - this William or was one from an older generation still alive?
      I think it was probably this one, although I don't know of another William in Slapton at the time I think his son William was still alive and living in Charleton. No other burials that could be his in Slapton (though could be missing from index)
      There had though been earlier burials of Williams in Slapton, none could be his as his last son was baptised 1712, but these reduce the possibility of an uncle / grandfather surviving: five between 1651 and 1710, and there may have been more - no entries in the PRs for some years during this period.

      Shown as widdower, adding weight to the theory it was this John who had first married to Elizabeht Codd in 1657
      Are the East Allington baptisms children  of the same John? With such common parents names as John and Elizabeth there could have been another couple. The marriages for East Allington 1607-1669 are currently not online, so cannot see if there were Pepperell marriages there in that period, nor are deaths for an appropriate time online.
