- I know of no good evidence to show that Dorothy Symons from Blackawton was the one who married John Trant in East Allington, and given the surname being quite a common one it could be chance, but it seems to me likely:
(1) East Allington and Blackawton are close to each other, sharing (at that time) a small section of parish boundary (see ).
(2) There is no futher sign of Dorothy in Blackawton
(3) There is no earlier sign of Symons [S(i/y)m(m)on(d)s] in East Allington - i.e. no baptisms from 1641 with the name, judging by the transcribed data on the South Hams wesbite (as at 13 Mar 2016).
(4) The age of the Dorothy from Blackawton makes her a good candidate to be the one who married John (at age 23) and have their children (at age 23 - 41)
