In 1861 he was living with his second wife, 2 children and a step daughter with his parents in the village. Both he and his father were then grocers.
Shown as marr in 1871 but wife not present. His father then living with him, also a "servant" - young Chatham-born shopman, 19 year old James Casse.
Like his parents William was a member of the Methodist Chapel, in his case for over 50 years. When he died the Gazette reported he had "an unswerving integrity" and was respected by the whole village. He was for many years superintendent of the Sunday School. (source: Allinson, Bredgar - p 133)
