    • Living with her husband and 3 children in Kingsnorth in 1841; by 1851 just the youngest (Selina) was still at home.
      By 1861 Stephen and Maria seem to have separate.
      Stephen was still in Kingsnorth, lodging with 82 year old Joseph Slingsby (possibly his father) and a housekeeper - Joseph and the housekeeper being  almsman / almswoman.
      Maria meanwhile had moved with Selina into Ashford where she was working as a poultry dealer. Since Stephen died before the 1871 census it is not clear if they got back together again. In 1871 Maria was still a poulterer in Ashford, an occupation in which Selina had joined her.
    • (Research):Maria Hunt is a reasonably common name, but the censuses show that the one with Stephen Slingsby  married was born in Stockbury abt 1799 so I'm happy it was this Maria.
