Other Partners: Herbert George MANKTELOW m. 17 Dec 1923Married Aug 1924 - The Petition of Divorce that Herbert Manktelow brought said that Ellen had been cohabiting with Amos from August 1924 to the date of the petition (30 Nov 1927) at Swanton Court Farm in Bredgar. (Reginald was in India with the army at this time). This was a farm farmed by Ellen's father at some stage (according to brief obit in the Dover Express when he died); presumably he was farming there then. The 1921 census shows it was a large farm house - 14 rooms, so space for boarders. Had Amos left his family or were the family boarding there?
I don't know how long Amos continued living with Ellen. Amos died shortly before the 1939 registration so that won't show if they were still together, but he appears to have been living with his wife when he died: his death registration shows him as 'of Howt Green' and this was where she was living at the time of the 1939 register; electoral rolls may give a clue, although if the whole family were in Swanton Court Farmhouse it will not be clear when any relationship ended.
At the time of the registration in 1939 Ellen and her son Reginald were with her parents, shown with the name Manktelow though both as later using Page (Ellen's maiden name).
Married? Not married or evidence to suggest they didn't marry Children 1. Reginald MANKTELOW, b. 20 Dec 1924, Swanton Court, Bredgar, Kent, England , d. 10 Jun 2003, Kent Reg Dist, Kent, England (Age 78 years) Last Modified 14 Aug 2024 Family ID F7315 Family Group Page | Family Chart
