In 1851 with his wife, 5 children and a visitor. The latter was 23 year old 'Chart' [Chard] born 'Kezia J. Mills', the person who his son would subsequently marry.

Residence From 1861 to 1871 Bexon Lane, Bredgar, Kent, England - William and his family were recorded as living in 'Baxton Lane' at the time of the 1861 census, 'Baxon Road' in 1871. I think both refer to what is usually given as 'Bexon Lane'.
With his in 1861 were his wife, son Joseph and grandson William G Whitehead. His daughter Emma was grandson William's mother; she had died a few months after her son was born, which no doubt explains why he was living with his grandparents.
Listed as a separate household in the same house was his son Amos wth wife and daughter.
By 1871 William had been widowed, son Joseph had left home but Amos, his wife and daughter were recorded as part of the same household as William. His grandson William Whitehead was still present.
