It is interesting to note that Edward was recorded as a husbandman at the time of the baptism of his first 2 children in 1824 and 1826, but his occupation was given as labourer from 1831 on, probably due to the family experiencing reduced circumstances in the difficult economic climate of those days. Shown as scavenger in the 1851 census.
