Residence From 1841 to 1851 Silver Street, Bredgar, Kent, England - In 1841 George was with his wife and 4 children (Charlotte, Caroline, Isabell and George); still in Silver Street in 1851, now with Isabell, George, Michael and Frances.
Could have been in the same street earlier, but his residence was simply given as "Bredgar" at the time his children were baptised (1822 - 1839).
Occupation 1841 Ag. lab. - Labourer (type unspecified) in the PR entries for the baptism of his children, 1822- 1837 (note change in 1839)
Occupation 1851 Labourer - on the census (30 Mar)
Occupation 1851 Sawyer - on his son Charles' marr cert (12 Nov)
Residence From 1861 to 1871 Bredgar Street, Bredgar, Kent, England - In 1871 as well as his wife George was with his "nephew" Albert Goodhew, actually the grandson of his sister Maria, son of her son Amos. Amos had been widowed in 1868, his wife dying the same quarter that Albert was born, so probably as a result of childbirth, and was not to remarry until 1880. No doubt William and Frances took in Albert because Amos was unable to cope with the need to work and a young baby.
Occupation From 1861 to 1881 Carpenter - Having had other occupations, George appears to have returned to that he had earlier in his life, being shown as a carpenter on the 1861, 1871 and 1881 censuses.
