Married 17 Nov 1761 St. Eustachius’ Church, Tavistock, Devon, England
- From PR entries (images on FMP, viewed 18 Sep 2022)
Unfortunately the banns and marriage entry in Tavistock PRs does not give the marital status of either of the couple.
The banns entry in Buckland Monachorum, John's parish, has not been seen and may give this.
However, it seems safe to assume it was Mary, Joseph's widow, since the mark she made in the register for both marriage is similar, and an unsusual shape.
As well as a register with the Hardwicke entry, Tavistock continued with a register with a short entry:
"[Novr:] 17. John Wilcock & Mary Cudlipp."
The Harwicke entry, a joint banns and marriage one, starts:
"Banns ... Jno: Willcock of Buckland Monachoram & Mary Cudlipp of this Town were ..."
John signed, Mary made her mark, and the witneses were Walter Cole and Nichs: Sargent
