Date and place from 1861 and 1871 censuses where shown as aged 23 and 34 respectively, though shown as aged 49 in 1881!
Gender Female Residence 1861 1, Hartford Place, Bexley, Kent, England - A boarder in the house of 59 year old Frederick George Foxall, a pensioner from being a Superintendent in the Metropolitan Police ("Supt. M Police Superanuated')".
Surprisingly Elizabeth is shown as having no occupation - does this mean she was being supported by Frederick?
With Elizabeth aged only 23 it seems unlikely there was a relationship between them but ...
Residence From 1871 to 1881 High Street, Bexley, Dartford, Kent, England - Although Elizabeth had moved from her 1861 address, she was still with Frederick G Foxall, although they were now lodgers in the house of Ericus Venner, a plumber the same age as Elizabeth.
This time she was shown as Frederick's housekeeper. Perhaps there was a relationship, despite the age difference. If there was, once Elizabeth was free from her marriage (in 1873, although she had applied for a divorce in 1871) she did not marry Frederick. However, a few years after the 1871 census she did marry - to the head of the 1871 household, Ericus Venner! (If there had been a relationship with Frederick Foxall it seems it did not last to the end of his life, as he died, still in Dartford RD, in 1884 at the age of 82.
Residence From 1891 to 1891 2, Laurel Villas, Albert Road, Bexley, Kent, England - At the time of the census, with her husband and where they both died, the probate calendar entries showing it was their home.
Although it was where they were living in 1891 this is not actually what the census entry shows; the address it gives for them is '8, Torrina Terrace'. The 1901 census makes clear Torrina Terrace was in Albert Road, but both it and the 1881 census show just 6 houses (1-6) in Torrina Terrace, then no. 1 and no. 2 Laurel Villas, before Hartford Cottage / House. In 1891 Laurel Villas do not appear, and 7 and 8 Torrina Terrace appear between no. 6 Torrina Terrace and Hartford Cottage. I think it reasonable to suppose this was an enumerator error, or at least 7 and 8 Torrina Terrace are the same as 1 and 2 Laurel Villas.
