This William probably died before his parents gave the name to another son in 1804. They must have been in Dartmouth in September 1802 when a daughter Mary was baptised there, so it seems probable that this burial is of there son.
There is, though, another possibility: William from Ipplepen (see his burial notes for why I think him a possibility).

But was it the marriage of this William to a Mary?
I am fairly sure it was; the date is appropriate and there is no sign of a William Gotham in Plymouth before this date or this couple afterwards.
Unfortunately the PR entry for the marriage does not give William's occupation, but the banns book might.
