Emigration Between 1911 and 1913 Australia
To / Arrival - Between the 1911 census, when he was in Ireland, and 1913 when his son Henry was born in Australia
Residence 1911 Princes Street, Lurgan, Co. Armagh, Ireland
- Stanley was living with his wife, who he had married a few months before in Ireland, and his wife's sister Louisea and her husband and baby.
Occupation 1911 Retort setter - A retort is a structure which contains the coal and other materials, and in which the gas is generated, in the manufacture of gas. A retort setter was a specialised bricklayer who manufactured and repaired the brick linings of such retorts and furnaces.
The bricks used contained a high percentage of pure silica and are known to have presented a silicosis hazard - I don't know if Stanley or his father or brother were affected by this.
Died 6 Apr 1977 Repatriation General Hospital, Concord, New South Wales, Australia
- On the 1911 census return his mother shows that only one of her 4 children had died so it would seem that Stanley was still living.
I think he must be the Stanley John who lived in Austrlia. The age is right, he gave the name Henry John to a son, and the names recorded as those of his parents when his death was registered sort of fit - they were both middle names rather than their first Christian names (possibly the names by which they were known).
A death notice in the Sydney Morning Herald of 7 Apr 1977 shows that an 88 year old Stanley John GOTHAM, late of Concord, died on 6 Apr 1977 at R.G.H. Concord. (from the Ryerson Index to death notices and obituaries in Australian newspapers.)

Details from church register entry (image on FMP, viewed 20 Mar 2018)
At this time for this marriage in a non-conformist church a registrar would have been present, and the officially registered copy would have been made by him. Unlike for Church of England Churches, the church register does not contain this and hence does not have the same details.
The 1911 census shows that Henry and Mary (or perhaps I should say John and Joanna) had had 4 children or whom one had died.

Family Mary Elizabeth REID, b. Abt 1886, Belfast, Antrim, Ireland
, d. 23 May 1982, New South Wales, Australia
(Age ~ 96 years) Married Dec Q 1910 Belfast Reg Dist, Ireland
- As well as there being / having been very few Goathams in Australia, and Mary Elizabeth was like Stanley, of Concord and a similar age, when Stanley's son's death was registered his mother's name was given as Mary Elizabeth.
Because only know of births up to 100 years ago (looked to end of 1914), Stanley and Mary may have had several more children after this date.
A probable close relation was Phyllis Johanna GOTHAM, born about 1921. I guess she was probably a daughter of daughter in law.
A death notice for her appeared in the Daily Telegraph (Sydney) of 8 Oct 2009; it shows she was to be cremated on 12 Oct 2009, having died aged 88 at Ashbury Nursing Home.
