    • Unfortunately there were 2 Mary Garlands buried at a similar time in Stokenham who could have been the one to marry John Nicholls. One probably died as a baby, but it is not clear which, and it could be another e.g. the mother of the first. The names of the parents of neither Mary are reflected in the names of the children of Mary and her husband John.
      Given the high mortality rates early in life it is most likely that the burial was the youngest baby, but this is far from certain.

      There was also a Mary Garland baptised in South Pool in 1689, i.e. in the Parish which I believe this Mary's husband came from so was it she who he married?
      Probably not, as there was also the marriage of a Mary Garland in South Pool in 1718.
