The baptism register should have recorded his occupation when the last 3 of his children were baptised, but whoever kept the register in St. Lawrence didn't bother with this column. He quite likely was an ag lab at this earlier date - the baptism register entries do show the family lived in the more rural St. Lawrence rather than the more populous town of Ramsgate, then still in St. Lawrence' parish.
