Gender Male Died - William's wife was shown as married in the 1851 census, implying he was still alive but he was not with her. I have not found him in any census (nor wife Rebecca in 1841).
Assuming he did die after 1851 which death is his? A death in Blean RD, including Seasalter / Whitstable would seem most likely. There was one in 1865, with that William's age given as 77. Fits this William nicely. However, what happened to William, born about 1788-1791 from ages in censuses, living with wife Susanna in Canterbury? He was in the 1861 census, no death registered for him in Canterbury though there was for his wife in 1865. Did he then move to live with a child? - part of Canterbury was in Blean RD, he wouldn't have had to move far.
The only other death to fit was in Thanet RD with a burial at St. Lawrence, an 87 year old who died in 1874. Had Wm N returned to St Lawrence? Possible. However, there was another William living in St. Lawrence with a son and family iin 1871, age given as 86, so the death seems more likely to have been that William.
Whilst the Blean RD death in 1865 could be this William, maybe William had left Kent or the 1851 census was wrong in describing Rebecca as 'wife' and he had already died.

Est 1684, bur. 8 Nov 1723, St. Clement’s Church, Sandwich, Kent, England (Age ~ 39 years) (Great Grandmother) Notes - (Research):Another William Griggs of a similar age (baptised Sandwich 1789) also became a blacksmith. With the William who married Rebecca not with her in 1851 I wondered if he had married bigamously or was living with a Mary when I saw them in the census. However, it is clear that there were 2 Williams - the baptism that fits in Sandwich, the birthplace claimed by the other William in 1851, the marriage to Mary in 1811 ... This family were living in Hook, Surrey and a William Griggs died in Kingston RD (which includes Hook) in 1859, age given as 74, close enough that it seems to be him and so he can be ruled out of confusion when looking for the death / burial of Wm Nelson GRIGGS.

Shows 'William Griggs of this Parish Batchelor and Rebekah Read of this Parish Spinster' married by Banns, no consent of parents needed, both made their mark, witnesses were Thomas Ashenden and John Philpot but there were witnesses to most marriages at this time so probably not family of William or Rebecca.
