Other Partners: Cubison Stickles WARREN m. 14 Mar 1866Married From 1879 - George and Matilda appear not to have lived together until after the death of Matilda's step-father, Charrossin Smith, she and her children living with him even after the death of her mother, when she appears as his housekeeper (in the 1891 census).
However, judging by their names, both their Christian names and their changing to using the surname Ellis, as well as their being shown as his children in the 1911 census, her children appear to be those of George, suggesting she was in a relationship with him by 1880.
The 1901 census is the only one where Matilda appears living with George, but she is shown not as his wife but as his housekeeper, and with the surname Warrant. Despite this, when she died her death was registered with her name as Matilda Ellis.
