"1901. Marriage solemnized at The parish Church in the parish of Whitstable in the County of Kent
No. 145; married: July 25 1901; Frank Day Sell; age: 23; Bachelor; Bricklayer; Residence at the time of Marriage: Whitstable; Father: Thomas Sell, Stoker;
Ada Sybella Goatham; age: 22; Spinster; [no occupation shown]; Residence at the time of Marriage: Whitstable; Father: Amos Goatham, Dealer;
Married in the parish Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Church of England after banns by me, A. S. Farbrother Curate
This Marriage was solemnized between us, Frank Day Sell, Ada Sybella Goatham,
in the Presence of us, Amos Goatham, Fred Pearson"
GRO ref: Goatham, Ada Sybella to Sell, Frank Day q3 1901 Blean RD 2a 1851
Although Frank names Thomas as his father, I think it save to assume that this was not true, that the 1881 and 1901 censuses are accurate in showing him as the grandson of Thomas and Phoebe, and that Frank was naming a father here to disguise the fact he was illegitimate.
