"[actual date in month hidden by fold in register] Nicholas son of Nicholas & Cathne. Bogwell, Br July 29. 1809" - under heading 'Baptisms in February 1812' then a sub-heading 'March'
Another register shows "13 Nicholas son of Nicholas & Cathne. Begwell, Born July 29th 1809" - under heading 'Baptisms in March 1812 Continued'
(FMP gives no archive refs, the 1st above is p.71 of whatever register it is in, the 2nd p.145, but a check when visiting the PWDRO will be needed to discover more about the 2 registers)
Gender Male Occupation From 1841 to 1851 Shiphay House, St. Marychurch, Devon, England House Servant - A servant in the home of the Kitson family.
In 1841 this consisted of a 70 year old clergyman, William Kitson, 65 year old Susanna and 30 year old Harriett (both of Independant means), 40 year old Thomas (also a clergyman), and 35 year old Mary (possibly Thomas's wife?) with 6 Kitson children aged 1 to 15.
At that time there were 10 servants, 7 female and 3 male. Also present, but listed after the servants so maybe visitors were 4 others, 3 Sandys (of independant means) and another female servant (of the Sandys?).
The extra information in the 1851 census makes the picture clearer.
The Kitson family by then consisted of Thomas Kitson, Curate of the tiny parish of Haccombe, and Magistrate for Devon, Mary his wife, and 5 daughters aged 11 to 23. There were then only 6 servants, 4 female and Nicholas was one of just 2 male servants.
Residence From 1871 to 1881 Barton, St. Marychurch, Devon, England - Just with his wife in 1871; with a niece, 21 year old Sarah Burgoyne, born Ashprington, in 1881, who was working as a Housekeeper - not clear, but I guess for Nicholas and Ann. (Two other Burgoynes also present in 1881, 55 year old Eleanor, born Box, and Emma, aged 12, born Ashprington).
Died 7 Nov 1887 Newton Abbot Reg Dist, Devon, England - GRO ref: Fogwill, Nicholas q4 1887 aged 78 Newton A. RD 5b 105
