with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born 1619 - (Correction from my estimate of 1600, which was from a guess that she was the oldest daughter, based on her being mentioned before her sisters*. Her baptism is noted twice in the PRs, once in the usual place and also inside the back cover but the KFHS transcription has managed to miss both! It looks like the main entry was squeezed in at a later date, in a different though contempory hand; the entry in the back cover may have been a note when it was realised Susanna's baptism had been omitted)
* - entions her first, then his other four daughters (3 surviving, one dead but with children living) from the oldest to the youngest, so it seems reasonable to suppose that Susan was older than the others.
There is a gap large enough between William's marriage and the first known baptism for another child, so I think it most likely that Susan was born in this gap, in 1600 or early 1601.
When William married his father was still living, so he may well have lived in, and hence Susan been baptised in, another parish until he came into his inheritance when his father died in 1602, a couple of months before his son Sampson was baptised.
It is, however, possible that Susan was the youngest, and her young age was why she had not married. Either way the much larger bequest she received was probably because her sisters had had their share as a dowry / part of a marriage settlement.

These show that the bride's name for 2 consecutive entries is given as Elizabeth Lyster.
Were there really 2 marriages running for an Elizabeth Lyster? I was at first suspicious that an error had been made, but it would seem there were.
Lyster was not a Brabourne name, but the marriage licence for the previous entry (for a marriage to a John Carpenter) shows that Elizabeth was a widow from Appledore.
I speculated that maybe the 2nd Elizabeth was a relation who met through the first marriage occuring. Now I have seen the will of a William Lyster of Appledore who died in 1599. He left a daughter and a widow Elizabeth; it seems these were the two Elizabeths who married in Brabourne. A note has been added alongside the probate statement for the will, dated 27 Nov 1600, which mentions William Halk, confirming a link between a William Halk and the Lysters in the will.
Further evidence is that Elizabeth Lyster of Appledore had a sister Agnes, who fits as the one who married Boys Ower, with references to the Halkes in their wills.

I think the marriage was probably of this Susan, although older than most at first marriage, she was clearly unmarried when her father died in 1641/2. Perhaps she had stayed at home to help care for her parents and run the household.
I have not found evidence of another Susan Halke in Brabourne, either spinster or widow, who could have married William Head.
I think it was probably this William who died in 1646, leaving a will. That William was married but young enough to have a grandfather living who he made overseer of his will, to assist his mother who was to be executor [sic] (mother was Elizabeth KENNARD, grandfather Thomas CAPAMAN) - I have a copy of the will and have had a quick read through it but not yet had time to transcribe it. No mention of any children.
William does mention a 'brother' Henry Hart - could this be Susan's brother in law, husband of her sister Agnes, that he is referring to? Adds weight that it was the will of William Head married to Susan Halke, and that it was the Susan shown here that he married.
