Set As Default Person -
Name John PEPPERELL Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Baptised 15 Apr 1810 St. Michael and All Angels’ Church, Stokenham, Devon, England

(There were 2 baptisms of children of a John and Mary Pepperell in Stokenham in 1810, John and an Anne. Presumably one a child of this couple, the other of John and Mary nee Watts. Two things point to John being the son of John and Mary nee Trout:
1. the baptism of Anne was not until December; assuming gaps between birth and baptism to be fairly consistent - which may not be the case - this is a bit close to the baptism of John and Mary nee Trouts daughter Elizabeth in 1811.
2. more conclusively, John and Mary nee Watts had a son John baptised in 1801; there seems to be no record of a burial of a John in Stokenham between then and when this John was baptised in 1810. Although not unknown it would be extremely rare for another son to be given the same name as a living one.
Also, with 4 sons you would expect the John who married Mary Trout to name one after himself.
When he died this John was recorded as being of Torcross - this is no help: both couples appear to have lived in Torcross!)
