There were a number of George Pepperells that Hannah might have married, but the description of his father as Samuel, a mason points to one baptised in 1826. Hannah being a widow again by 1861 means her husband Geroge was probably buried between 1856 and 1861 (probably because although a labourer and not a fisherman if he had gone to sea and lost his life there then there would not necessarily be a burial). There is only one burial of a George in Stokenham in the period 1856-51, and he was shown as aged aged 30 at his death early in 1857. This clearly agrees with the George baptised in 1826.
The surprising thing is that when later in 1857 his son was baptised there is no mention of his having died.
Although both George and Jane were both Pepperells by birth they weren't that closely related (at least not on the Pepperell side) but were 3rd cousins.
