    • The family may still have lived in Horrabridge in 1861. The census return for that year only shows the parish, Buckland Monachorum, but they were in Enumeration District 5C, and the description of this shows that is was the part of the Parish East of the turnpike road, from Jump (near Bickley) to Bedford Bridge. This included Horrabridge, as well as a number of other settlements ('Elford Town' - now Yelverton); it did not include Buckland Monachorum village (formerly 'Church Town') nor Milton Combe.

With the family in 1861 was a lodger, Salley Angove, a 62 year old widow born in St Just, Cornwall.

Now alone, John and Patience were certainly living in Horrabridge (the Buckland part of it) in 1871.

The above refers to several children but gives no data. Looking through all the Symons (and variants) children baptised in Tamerton, 1806-1826, there only seem to be 2 children of this marriage, the two who were later in dispute over their grandfather's will.

    • First 3 children of the marriage born pre the start of birth registration, i.e. in the years covered by the DFHS transcripts. Only these 3 with John and Patience in 1841, so it looks like if any others were born by then they had not survived infancy. Grace was the only child with them in 1851 and 1861, so there were probably no others who survived infancy.
(The John and Mary Ann Symons, baptised in Lydford in 1848 and 1850, were the children of another John Symons and Patience, the ones who married in 1847, John being a tailor from Lewtrenchard - occupation shown on his marriage entry and the children's baptism entries)
