with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Between 1547 and 1568 - Assuming Joane was at least 18 when the 1st known baptism of a child occurred (William in 1586), which would have been unusally young for those days, and no more than 50 when the last known baptism of a child took place.
I show a child dying in 1676, but as the burial simply records that she was a "daughter of Thomas" I ca't be sure that it was by his wife Joane and not an earlier wife, or even that it was the same Thomas.
Joan's will provides the evidence for her being mother of the other children. I suspect a couple were older than William but can't be sure about this.
Gender Female Will 1626 [1] - Joane's will was lost along with most Devon wills due to enemy action in Exeter in 1942; fortunately Miss Olive Moger had made an abstract, which does survive.
There is also a reference to the will in Devon Notes and Queries:
"Jane Sawdy of Buckland Monachorum in her will proved in 1626, bequeathed a Pan described as a Buckfastleigh Pan."
