    Notes
    • (Research):** I am guessing that Philip was the son of Philip and Elizabeth nee Webber **
This is based on this Philip giving his son Francis the middle name Webber.
Also, the burials at Staverton and the date between the mariage of Philip and Elizabeth Webber and known baptisms of their children suggest I am missing some baptisms.

I did at first think that the Philip who married Mary Freeman was probably the one bapt in West Alvington in 1769, but the burial records (with ages) suggest he died in 1826, and overlapping baptisms make it clear there were 2 Philip and Marys.

The 1841 census, though, is confusing.
It appears that this Philip was still living in Horsebrook with some of his family, while his wife was in Bigbury with daugher Charlotte and son Philip and his family. The children's names (including the unusual Myra) as well as the son Philip's birthplace are evidence of what is clearly the same family in subsequent censuses; South Brent, strongly point to it being this Philip's wife and son in Bigbury, not the family of the other Philip and Mary.
Philip of Bigbury died in 1846 leaving a will; I am hoping that seeing this will clarify the situation.

Three children of this couple were buried between the baptisms of William in 1778 and Sarah in 1784. I have not yet browsed the register for baptisms, but 2 different transcriptions lack baptisms for these children. I suspect that they were buried so soon after birth they had not been baptised, or that they were baptised at home and the priest neglected to write it in the register.
(The 2 sets of transcriptions are those by FMP and those by David Horwill, in the SOG database)
