[1] - The Register of Officers' Services (1787) and transcribed data from the Petworth Parish Registers (1786) disagree about the year of Thomas's birth (although agreeing about date and month). Looking at the dates his siblings were baptised 1786 seems the more likely.

Whether obtained by reduction, or by the Purchase of a Half Pay Commission: wheter in consequence of his being from ill health incapable of Service, or under what other circumstances; and, if by Exchanve, whether with or without receiving the difference.
{ Placed on half Pay from ill Health, (being reported unfit for Service by a Medical Board) on the 12th. April 1831, from the Effects of Climate and Disease in India.
I have been most seriously hurt on Duty while taking the Field in India, by Fortunes and Dislocations, and have now two more reduced Declarations }
List, and Dates of any Battles, Seiges and Campaigns, in which the Officer was present; specifying the Regiment or Staff Situation he held on each occasion, and the Name of the Officer in the chief command.
Present in all the Campaigns of Portugal and Spain from August 1810, until the beginning of 1814; returned to England with Sick and Wounded from St. Anders(?) and joined the 2nd. Bn. 43rd. to which I belonged; might have returned before the Battle of Vittoria, but requested to remain with the Army when my services were of greater Consequence.
