Sampford Spiney is so near Tavistock I'm sure it might have been approximated to it, and whilst the age is about 6 years out there is no evidence for a Richard with a better fit on birthplace and date. (A Richard was born about 1815, probably at St. Stephens in Cornwall where his mother claimed he was baptised).
