      His place of settlement was clearly Lamerton, as that is where his widow and two daughters were removed to following his death.
      However, that does not necessarily mean he was born there

    Cause: Manslaughter - Killed with a potato axe by his brother-in-law, John Justham 
    • Date from gravestone. Place from coroner's report description - described there as "Buckland Monachorum Church town".

    • Gravestone shows that he was "unfortunately slain" at the age of 31.
      Who erected this? Given that his wife was removed to her legal place of settlement soon after his death it seems unlikely she could afford it; maybe it was his parents. What does "slain" mean? It sounds to me like it means a deliberate killing, but this may not be right. Admittedly longer before Oliver's death than we are now after it, I have read of a burial recorded as "a poore boy slain wth a fall from a cart" (Chislet, Kent on 5 Aug 1586) so it may be that it could refer to an accident.
