  	John was listed first in the 1841 census in a household consisting of him, his brothers Bartholomew and Rubin and his mother; an uncle, 55 year old Richard Matticott was shown as a separate household in the same house, and was shown as a lodger. The previous house shown in the census had living in it a 20 year old Richard Matticott - probably the brother of John, Bartholomew and Rubin along with Ann Martin, also shown as a lodger. In 1851 the address was shown as High Lovaton but I suspect was just more specific and did not reflect a move. At that time all 4 unmarried brother (i.e. the 3 as above and Richard who was next house) were living together with their mother and uncle Richard; John was shown as head of the household.
