      There were a number of Williams who could theoretically have been this one, my 6xgt grandfather, but the most likely seems to be the one baptised in Sampford Spiney in 1724. Not only was it where the evidence points to William having spent most of his life, but the father of the Wm baptised in 1724 was Bartholomew, the name Wm gave to his first-born.
