Name John WOGAN Suffix [ONS gp] Esq. [parents?] Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Est 1500 - At present I am guessing that John was a son of Richard. He must clearly have been a close relation, the details should be clarified by seeing Richard's IPMs.
Just a rough estimate of his dob - again, Richard's IPM should help.
Or, could John be the John who was the son of Thomas and Agnes of Wrington? Thomas' will does show that he had a son John whose wife was called Agnes, as the wife of this John was. John's wife was from East Brent, only 12 miles from Wrington. But the names John and Agnes were both common at this time, it could easily have been another couple with the same name. Against this John being the son of Thomas and Agnes is that Wrington is about 35 miles from Whitelackington, and there is evidence of earlier Wogans at Selvinch; not only that, but John requested being buried with his ancestors in Whitelackington.
Neither the distance nor burial request preclude Thomas and Agnes from being John's parents, though.
Maybe Thomas moved away from Whitelackington because he was a younger son, not son and heir, but then the senior line(s) failed and so John moved back, inheriting as nephew or cousin of the (W)ogans there.

Probate 6 May 1559 Prerogative Court of Canterbury, London, England Residence Selvinch, Whitelackington, Somerset, England Siblings 1 sister Notes - Wogan ancestry
Wogan does not seem to be a common name amongst Somerset ancestry, or in neighbouring counties, but catalogue entries in the Somerset Heritage Centre suggest that there may be a link between the Somerset / White Lackington Wogans and those in Pembrokeshire.
However, some sources also suggest that Ogan was a variant, and there are Chancery Court cases involving John Ogan (and similar sp) and his wife Agnes that I think are this couple.
In John's will he expresses a wish to be buried 'with his ancestors' in White Lackington, suggesting he had not moved there from another part of the country, and it seems that the 'Ogans' had lived at Selvinch for at least 2 generations before John, having married into the Selvyn family.
When John died there were Inquisition Post Mortems in Wiltshire as well as in Somerset, indicating he held property direct from the crown in both counties. I wonder if it was his Wiltshire connection that led his daughter Mary to marry (after being widowed twice) a Stourton and to live in Warminster.
