      Margaret was of Pembury when she married. It's quite possible she was born in Yalding and then moved to Pembury before marrying, either for work as a young woman, or with her family. Her father may well have been from Pembury and returned there, by choice or by being removed to the parish.

      However, a Thomas Sennock married in Pembury in 1635. Did he have a daughter Margaret? Is the John who married Emlen the same one as the John baptised in Pembury? I really need to see more of the Pembury PRs and other neighbouring parishes to get a feel for how safe this connection is.
      (At present Pembury marriages are on KFHS CD 12 but bapt and burs are not transcribed, nor are they on FamilySearch)

    • Sennoke is given as the surname for Margaret in the IGI entry for her daughter's baptism.

      I guess the surname is from Sevenoakes ("sen" as in sen-night - for seven nights, i.e. a week, an old word that has dropped out of use although fortnight - for forteen nights - has survived) ("The Penguin Dictionary of Surnames" by Basil Cottle, 2nd edn, 1978 confirms this)
    • (Research):There are other Sennoke entries on the IGI in Brenchley, but I haven't found a baptism or marriage for Margaret. Only bapt that I've spotted at right sort of time for her is for an Elizabeth, born / bapt 1657 / 8 - dau of Zacharias Sennoke and Elizabeth.
