Name Mary GRIGSBY Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1756 Hucking, Kent, England - Year based on age in burial record, place assumed from baptism.
Baptised 6 Jun 1756 St. Margaret’s Church, Hucking, Kent, England - Father's name given as William
Gender Female Died 27 Oct 1840 Stockbury, Kent, England Cause: Dropsy - Her death was registered by the registrar as he was in attendance at her death. I did wonder if this was a mistake in transcribing the data, though as the cert I have is a photocopy of the records from the local office I'm not sure a transcription is involved. He was resident in Hollingbourne, not Stockbury where Mary died, so it wasn't as though he were a neighbour.
However, looking him (the registrar) up in the 1841 census explained it: he was a "surgeon". I was interested to see that a doctor would be called to an 85 year old with dropsy. I don't know how common it was to call out a doctor to the sick elderly; of course they would not normally be present at the moment of death so not able to register the death. Hopefully the doctor was able to make Mary's final hours more comfortable.

Siblings 3 brothers and 3 sisters Half-siblings 1 half brother (family of [ - ? - ] and Susanna CORDGER) Patriarch & Matriarch John GRIGSBY, b. Est 1530, d. Apr 1600, Marden, Kent, England (Age ~ 70 years) (5 x Great Grandfather)
Susan, d. Yes, date unknown (Grandmother)Notes - (Research):Observation:
No sign of baptisms of Grigsbys for Mary or possible siblings in Stockbury, but a number married around the same time as Mary so she may have moved to Stockbury with her parents and siblings.
A Mary Whitehead, probably this one or her dau, along with a William Whitehead, were the witnesses at the wedding of Samuel Grigsby in Bredgar in 1798, so I would guess Samuel was probably quite a close relation. (Has proved to be her brother)
1 May 2011: I thought tracing Mary Grigsby's tree would be hard. It looks like Mary may have had siblings or close family Matthew, James, Sarah, Frances and Samuel, judging from Grigsby marriages / families having children around the same time as Mary in or near Stockbury.
Having worked through the few KFHS CD-ROMs I have it looks as though it's surprisingly simple. A family in Headcorn are too good a fit with Mary and her probable siblings to be a coincidence - parents William and Frances, and there is a also a burial of a Frances in Stockbury to fit this Frances. Also, the couple had been removed from Wormshill to Headcorn in 1834 so had had some interest in living / working in the Stockbury area.
Further investigation has found a bapt to fit Mary in Hucking, with father William. I think her father was the eldest child of William and Frances, so this couple who I at first thought were Mary's parents would be her grandparents, and those I thought could be her siblings were her aunts and uncles. Samuel I thought might be her nephew when I suspected she was the youngest child of Wm senr and Frances turns out to be her brother once I realised she was the oldest child of Wm junr and Susanna.

Family Richard WHITEHEAD, b. Abt 1739, d. Sep 1830, Stockbury, Kent, England (Age ~ 91 years)
Other Partners: Ann STOCKWELL; Rachael WOODBanns of marriage From 11 Sep 1774 to 25 Sep 1774 - From register entry (image on FMP, viewed 20 Jul 2019)
Married 20 Feb 1776 St. Mary Magdalene’s Church, Stockbury, Kent, England [2] - From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 20 Jul 2019)
It is interesting that the marriage took place so long after the banns were read - about 18 months later. (were the banns still valid? - to be checked) Mary was a minor and Richard seems to have been some years older so perhaps her parents did not consent at first. She was still a minor when they did marry, but being about 6 months pregnant at the time perhaps further resistance seemed hopeless! It seems unlikely that they would have been too bothered about her being pregnant and not married - her mother had an illegitimate child and then was about six months pregnant with another when she did marry, and two of Mary's sisters went on to have 3 illegitimate children between them, and one was also about 6 months pregnant at marriage.
