Family Hester LEIGH, b. Abt 1692, d. Abt May 1758, Charleton, Devon, England (Age ~ 66 years) Married 26 Jul 1719 St. Mary’s Church, Charleton, Devon, England [2] - It seems likey there will have been children baptised between James and Hester; I have not yet browsed thoroughly or checked for illegible or missing pages.
The fact that two were baptised outside of Charleton (Susanna in Kingsbridge and Hester in Dodbrook) I don't think indicates a family that was moving around: the Kingsbridge baptism recorded that the family were of Charleton and it was also noted in Charleton PRs (along with children of other families similarly baptised outside of Charleton) and the Dodbrooke baptism shows the family were of Ledstone ('Lyston'). In both cases others on the same page were recorded of Lyston or Charlaton. Although Ledstone was in Charleton parish it was just 2 miles from Dodbrook church, and just slightly more from Kingsbridge Church, but over twice as far from Charleton Church. All these baptisms I have seen outside of Charleton Parish were in the winter months (Nov - March) when it is easy to imagine that travel from Ledstone to Charleton could have been difficult, with probably any route including steep hills and muddy roads.
