Name Walter NARRAMORE Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1560 - Based on his grave giving his age at death as 99, some show Walter as born 1560.
A William Northmore who had married Margaret Smith in 1558 had a number of children baptised in South Tawton in 1561 - 1588, including a Walter in 1574. Doreen Heaton, in Northmore Newsletter (NN) issue 10 speculated that that baptism could have been this Walter. It certainly seems a possibility.
Just as I was beginning to think the above unlikely, since I have discovered references to a number of Narramore families nearer to Ideford than South Tawton (more details to be added). I have found references to a Bartholomew Northmore being a warden in South Tawton 1570 / 1571. Bartholomew could easily be a son or brother of the aforementioned William, and be the person after whom Walter named a son Bartholomew (possibly because he was godfather to Walter's son, as at this time children were still often named after godparents). Or, while it could of course be chance, it may also be due to a link, but a more distant one.
In NN issue 7 is mention of a floor stone in South Tawton to one "...Ilote Northmore" in 1623 - it is noted that this means Philotte Northmore. Is there good evidence to confirm this? Otherwise, could it be an "Ibote" - Walter gave a daughter the unusual name Ibbott
Gender Male Feoffee Humphrey Borrington's Charity - In 1626 when new feoffees were appointed to administer Borrington's Charity Walter Narramore was amongst them, as was his son Bartholomew.
"Borrington's Gift.
Humphrey Borrington, by deed, bearing date 15th April, 1589, granted to Richard Borrington and five others, and their heirs, a yearly rent of 20s. to be issuing out of his lands called Hayes, in the parish of Ideford, on trust, to distribute the said rent, or the greatest part thereof, amongst the poorest people of the said parish of Ideford, with a proviso for appointing new trustees, when the number should be reduced to two.
This statement is taken from a deed for appointing new trustees, dated 30th April, 1626.
Lord Clifford is the proprietor of the lands called Hayes, whose tenant pays the annuity. It is distributed by one of the feoffees about Easter, among the poor of the parish, generally in sums of 1s. each."

Will 27 Aug 1654 [1] Written The will of Walter Narramore (c.1560 - 1659)
(a 10 x great grandfather of mine)Buried 20 Apr 1659 St. Mary the Virgin Church, Ideford, Devon, England - Date from his gravestone in Ideford Church
The gravestone of Walter Narramore and his grandson John
If you visit Ideford now it appears that Walter and John were buried not in the churchyard but in the body of the church. This was a more expensive option than a churchyard burial and if true would indicate the family were prospering at this time. However, they may not have been; when work was done on the floor a few years ago there were found to be no bones under that stone, or elsewhere in the area that the church covered in 1659. In the C19th the church was extended and a local archaeologist…Probate 6 Jun 1659 London, Middlesex, England - Probate was granted to his wife Joan
Occupation Yeoman - Although Walter describes himself as a Yeoman in his will, the only land he mentions is in Sheepstor, not Ideford. Since he was living in Ideford, about 30 miles from Sheepstor, by present day roads, maybe a few miles less by horseback in the past but over the rugged and in parts boggy Dartmoor terrain not the easiest of journeys, he can't have been involved with the day to day work on the land.
I suspect he would have had a farm in or near Ideford, which he had probably passed on to his son or children from his first marriage, and had retired by the time he wrote his will. Although he was "in health of body" he also describes himself as "being stricken in yeares". Whether or not he was aged about 99, as his gravestone states, his age would have been a good reason to retire from day to day farming.

The third entry in a row not to have a date; the one before them was 19 Nov, the following 17 Sep 1559, corrected from beginning to write December and one other entry that year has a blank for the month. I expect the register was transcribed from loose sheets c. 1568 when the requirement was introduced to use parchment books, and the dates could not be read.
(The style of writing is typical of C16th or C17th, it does not appear to be a much later transcription)

Married - Given the gaps between their estimated births Walter and his first wife may well have had more children who didn't survive infancy; the 3 shown are known of through their father Walter's will. And there is no evidence that Walter had only one wife before Joan Wilcox - he could easily have had 2 or more, and Bartholomew, Thomazine and Ibbott may not have shared a mother.
