    Notes
    • (Research):I have no proof that the James who was baptised in Charleton was the one who had a family in South Pool and was buried in Sherford, but given that the name was not common it seems probable

I have now looked through the baptisms in South Pool from 1734, and added a few children not on the South Hams website, which only covers 1750 on (and have corrected a couple of dates extracted from that site).

Steed was not a common name in the South Hams; those there were mostly in the Sherford / Charleton / South Pool area.

A Mary Steed married Richard Dear in Charleton on 20 Nov 1754 (DFHS Woodleigh Deanery CD) - could be James' sister

An Elizabeth Steed marr Wm Fallentien in Charleton on 27 Jan 1777 - could be James dau
